The Carpet Look 💋

This year, Sabrina Carpenter was nominated for a grand total of 9 awards at the 2025 VMAs. She arrived on the red carpet in this gorgeous red sheer lace gown and a purple boa.

I love how subtle her makeup is and the cat eye eyeliner really makes a difference she looks so different but stunning! Body TEA as usual I really love the skin tone corset they used to make the look.

We also got some of the first MODERN DAY pictures of Sabrina with Ariana Grande. A real pop princess summit. (And it’s hilarious how Sabrina is the one making Ari look short in these pictures).

PROTECT THE DOLLS 💋

But Sabrina didn’t stay in that red dress long, pretty much immediately heading backstage to get new hair installed and glammed up for her performance. And what a performance it WAS. Instead of the expected and theorized medley, Sabrina performed Tears for the first time on the stage.

Coming out of a manhole and joined by drag queens, dancers, and HONEY BALENCIAGA (Beybrina’s everywhere for those with eyes to see them), Sabrina gave us a sort of extended addition of the Dance Break scene in the Tears Music Video.

She starts the performance off in a sparkly fringe shirt dress with black tights, before changing in a phone booth and stripping down to a Britney-esque bedazzled bra top and doing the dance break IN THE RAIN. X-Tina daughter this, Britney-daughter that, all I know is that Sabrina Carpenter gave us the most VMAs coded performance of the night.

And most importantly? We’re living in a world under Trump’s fascist regime, where Trans rights and human rights in general are constantly under attack. For Sabrina Carpenter, arguably one of the most famous pop stars in the world right now, who CURRENTLY has the #1 album to not only platform but to HIRE drag queens, trans dancers, while she advocates for lgbt rights, on one of the biggest stages in music history???

Especially as people try to point fingers and call her a conservative psyop? Oh Sabrina we love you so much. Truly a class act.

And Sabdomination didn’t stop there! After her stunning performance, Sabrina (of course) did an outfit change and was back in her seat in time to win the VMA for ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Winning Album of the Year for your breakout album while currently on the promo tour for your brand new #1 album? Pop Princess indeed.

She also took home the award for Best Pop Artist and Best Visual Effects for the Manchild music video, adding up to a grand total of 3 Moon Men for our girl. She was the second most awarded artist of the night, tied with Ariana Grande.

And like the Pop QUEEN she is, Sabrina partnered with Amazon to host a VMAs after-party, named “Sabrina 54” as a reference to the infamous Studio 54 club which was a sanctuary of freedom for the LGBTQ+ community in the 70s and 80s.

While no cellphones were allowed, the celebration was covered by Interview Magazine, and Sabrina STUNNED in her FOURTH look of the night with this strappy Cher dress and disco curls. They had those wigs on LOCK tonight.

Carpenter Closet 💋

Sabrina wore custom Valentino for her first look at the VMAs.

Sabrina wore vintage Bob Mackie from 1986 as her second VMAs look.

Sabrina wore a vintage Bob Mackie dress originally designed for Cher at her VMAs after party.

Sabrina notably wore a vintage Bob Mackie dress previously designed for Madonna at her last VMAs.

The dress was previously worn for Cher’s legendary “Shame, Shame, Shame” performance with Tina Turner on The Cher Show in 1975!
